Art Show

Picture
We invite you to join us April 24, 2026 at 7pm for the opening reception of the art show “Call Me Mara: A Journey toward Environmental Justice.” The art will treat topics of grief and lament in how consumption, pollution, and destruction impact the environment, of hope for the beauty of nature to be respected and protected, and of redemption for all creation. Featured artists include members of our own congregation, including our children and youth!

Spring Spiritual Retreat

Spring Spiritual Retreat
Friday, April 10th - Sunday, April 12th
We all need time to breathe and space to listen for God amidst our own thoughts. It can be hard to find that time in the midst of daily routines. Take a step away from the noise, and into the retreat center at St. Francis Springs.
We will depart on Friday afternoon to St. Francis and return to Durham on Sunday afternoon.

During this retreat, we will be structuring our time by going on an "ecological journey" with Howard Thurman. Howard Thurman is considered by many to be the Godfather of the Civil Rights Movement and Spiritual Advisor to Martin Luther King Jr. Much of Thurman's personal spiritual journey centers on his relationship with the Divine Presence he found in nature. Thurman's writings often center on nature as a mentor, shaper, teacher, and advisor to his own  sense of groundedness. Our time together on retreat will focus on Thurman's own learning about spirituality in nature, and how we might see similar reflections of meaning-making in our own lives.
