Good Samaritan Fund | Community Financial Assistance

Mission

The purpose of the Good Sam Fund at Duke Memorial UMC is to be a good neighbor by providing discretionary spending aimed at granting financial assistance for housing, utilities, transportation, and food to individuals in our community and in our church. 

Following the pattern of scripture found in Luke 10:
36. [Jesus said,] “Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man..?”
37. The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.”
Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.”

Requesting Assistance

• Requests are taken by phone, 919-683-3467, or in-person on the first Monday of the month.
  • If the first Monday is a holiday, requests will be taken the following week. Call 919-683-3467 for the most up-to-date information.
• Those seeking assistance must be Durham County residents and have not received financial assistance from Duke Memorial in the past twelve months. 
• Food and groceries are available the third Saturday of every month at our Mobile Market. The line usually forms at 7:30am and food will be distributed at 10:00am.
