Always Welcome

At Duke Memorial children are central to the life of the congregation. Our hope is that your children will not only be welcome but will become ministers in our church, worshiping and serving as full members of Christ's body.

Sunday School

During the Sunday School hour (9:45 AM- 10:45 AM), children in Kindergarten through 5th grade will be in the Lillie Duke Room and Lullaby Room. Children younger than kindergarten will be in the Nursery. During the worship service, the Nursery is open for children up to age 8. All children will sign in with Julia Browning, Nursery Coordinator, and Julia will guide them to the Lillie Duke Room or the Nursery.

Children will be divided into two groups, one of children in Kindergarten-2nd Grade and another of children in 3rd-5th Grade and use the Whirl Lectionary Curriculum. The groups will rotate between the Lillie Duke Room and the Lullaby Room for a fun morning of Bible story, coloring sheets, crafts, games, and a video! The groups will be split up by age. In the event that there are not enough children or teachers everyone will stay together.
Nursery | Children in Preschool and Younger

Infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children are invited to the Nursery during the Sunday School hour and the worship hour. During the Sunday School hour, the Nursery Worker Team uses a curriculum created for little ones with faith-based stories, songs, a video, and coloring sheets!

Safe Sanctuaries

At Duke Memorial, we believe that children are a gift from God. In order to demonstrate our absolute and unwavering commitment to the physical safety and spiritual growth of all of our children and youth we have a Safe Sanctuaries Policy. The Safe Sanctuaries Policy is a set of guidelines and procedures implemented to create an environment in which children, youth, and adults who work with them have boundaries of safe space. All volunteers and workers with infants, children, and youth have had background checks and have received training in our Safe Sanctuaries Policies.
