Where were you born and raised: Harrisonburg, Virginia
Who is in your family? My husband, Pete and my two children, Eli and Sarah.
One of my greatest experiences with God: When I anointed the paralyzed left side of a 19 year old who was shot as a result of gang violence and he looked at me and said the first words I’d heard him say since he’d been shot: “Can I anoint you?” When he did, I recognized again who I was (am): A sinner of God’s redeeming, anointed as one who is worthy- all by the hand of one the world had labeled “unworthy!” “Whoever you are, you are human. Wherever you are, you live in the world, which is just waiting for you to notice the holiness in it.” –Barbara B. Taylor
If you weren’t working at Duke Memorial, what would your profession be? Before I became a pastor, I was a buyer and merchandiser for The Museum Store at Roanoke Island Festival Park in Manteo, NC. I loved being creative with colors, shapes and designs to highlight a theme or area. Getting paid to shop in New York and Atlanta wasn’t too bad either! I’m grateful for the opportunity to use these same gifts when I plan and create worship.
Aside from necessities, what one thing could you not go a day without? I could not go a day without laughter. I couldn’t and I wouldn’t. I’m blessed that the team at DMUMC gets this: each day of ministry includes laughter and play.
